Mac Schilcher, a senior at Wagner College in New York, was accepted into the Washington Program and is completing his internship at the Jefferson Governmental Relations Group in Washington, D.C. He worked for Senator-elect Jim Webb and attended election night festivities at the Democratic National Headquarters. Mr. Schilcher was a 2003 graduate of the regional high school.

Genevieve H. Flanders ran successfully for the Hamilton College women's cross-country team during the 2006 season. Ms. Flanders is a sophomore at the Clinton N.Y. college.

Elizabeth Edwards, a member of the class of 2008 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., was inducted into the college's Periclean Honor Society. The induction ceremony took place over Celebration Weekend, the annual fall gathering for Skidmore families. Ms. Edwards is the daughter of John and Mary Edwards of Edgartown.

Bishop George W. Coleman awarded Marion Medals on Nov. 19, to 89 lay people from the parishes throughout the Fall River Diocese. Among the recipients was Susan P. Wello of Vineyard Haven, a member of Good Shepherd Parish. The Marion Medal is awarded in recognition for long-term service to ones parish.
