I Wonder What the King is Doing Tonight
Find out when "Camelot" opens this evening at the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. Director Kate Murray is very excited about her show and with good reason. This production doesn't look like the typical "Camelot" you may have seen before. Ms. Murray has chosen a dark time, the sixth century, to set her show. You won't see any fancy Renaissance costumes in this production. Rather, Ms. Murray has chosen earth tones to accentuate the organic quality of the story.
More than 60 students are in the show, which is a huge job, but the production team is up to the task. Assisting Ms. Murray is Kirkland Beck; costumes by Kathy Retmier and students Anna Convery and Rebecca Swartwood; and musical director Jan Wightman.
Audience members at the Performing Arts Center are in for a treat starting tonight when the Lerner and Leowe musical opens.
"Camelot" Thursday, Feb. 15, Friday, Feb. 16, Saturday, Feb. 17, all at 7 pm; Saturday, Feb. 17 matinee at 12:30 pm, at the Performing Arts Center, high school, Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, Oak Bluffs.
Tickets are $10 or $7 for seniors and students.
