Winter is back. Where are your mittens?
Is there anyone who hasn't admired the new Island Home? What a marvelous greeting you all gave to the new ferry on Saturday. I was returning home on my farewell trip on the Islander when Island Home pulled in to the next dock at Woods Hole. It seemed even larger from the side.
This afternoon at 3:30 pm Jennifer Lyonnaise will teach yoga to children aged 6 to 10 at the Vineyard Haven Public Library. Next Thursday these children can meet Susie Bowman to hear stories about owls. Susie is a naturalist at Felix Neck. Then on March 29 visitors from the Farm Institute will share stories and projects.
On Tuesday morning at 11 am, ages 3 and up can enjoy music and songs with Jeremy Berlin who will bring his keyboard. On Tuesday, March 27, Merrily Fenner will use her guitar to provide music, songs, and stories to these little ones. Then everyone can play Scrabble at the Library on Tuesday afternoons at 2 pm in the Vineyard Room.
Tisbury School children will be delighted to learn that there will be a special movie and popcorn for children ages 4 and up next Wednesday at 1 pm.
Cronig's Market marks 90 years in business this week. There will be live music from 4 to 6 pm this evening and on Friday with some food samplings and demonstrations as well. The birthday cake will be cut by Robbie Cronig at 2 pm on Saturday.
Were you in the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School class of 1962? This class includes many of your neighbors: Jeff Kurth, Nancy (Seward) Ireland, Gus Ben David, Eric Magnuson, George Athearn, Tim Baird and Sheila (Berube) Baird, and Lucinda (daRosa) Barrett. Also in this class are Preston G. Harris, Antone Rezendes (of The Square Rigger), David Steere, and Daniel Whiting.
This was the third class to graduate from the new regional high school. The last reunion was in 1992 at the Outermost Inn in Aquinnah. Your classmates want to organize a 45th reunion this fall. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life will be June 1 and 2. There are already 26 teams and room for more. If you would like to form a team, pick up materials at our library.
