Though last Wednesday's peace rally was not as well attended as others, Chris Fried and one other stood their ground at Five Corners in Vineyard Haven holding signs. Members of the M.V. Peace Council and others are planning to attend another rally on Wednesday, May 23, in New London, Conn., where President Bush will be speaking at the Coast Guard Academy's commencement ceremony.

The rally, which is co-sponsored by several peace coalitions in Connecticut, begins at 9 am. Members of the Cape Cod peace community are renting a bus to New London that leaves on Tuesday evening, and will pick Islanders up in Falmouth. All are invited to eat and sleep at the All Souls Unitarian Church in New London.

To reserve a seat on the bus and a sleeping spot, which costs $50, call John Bangert at 508-432-0545, or e-mail jjbangert@gmail.com. Checks must be made out to John, and sent to 5 Stage Coach Rd., Harwich, MA 02645.
