David Dworkin of Edgartown and Atlanta, Ga., died at home on May 2. He was 63. David had a career in retail that spanned decades. He held positions at several chains including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bonwit Teller, Marshall Fields, and was eventually recruited by Neiman-Marcus as president and COO. David was the Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Swoozies, Inc., a chain of unique gift stores at the time of his death. He was also a National Trustee of the Boys and Girls Club of America.
He is survived by his wife Kelly Plank-Dworkin; his two daughters, Wendy Perry, and her husband Dr. Julian Perry of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kira Shepherd, and her husband John Shepherd of Vineyard Haven. He also leaves behind three step-children, Ashley, Morgan, and Jordan Plank; and five grandchildren, Julian, Liam, and Remy Perry and Ivan and Oscar Shepherd.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on May 18 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga. Wayne R. George of Oak Bluffs, died on March 20. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 26, from 1 to 5 pm, at the Portuguese-American Club, Vineyard Avenue, Oak Bluffs.
