This Sunday, July 8, will be the annual Tisbury Street Fair. By 6 pm Main Street in Vineyard Haven will be filled with people looking for their favorite street fair fare. Could it be a huge baked turkey leg, carried club-like and eaten while walking around? What about some delicious fried chicken?

Many Island organizations set up tables and pass out information to the public. Look for the Oak Bluffs Senior Center table, where the quilting group will be selling raffle tickets on a beautiful queen-sized basket quilt. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward helping seniors pay their heating bills this winter. Last year the quilters made two quilts and raised more than $4,000 to help seniors.

The Martha's Vineyard Cancer Support Group will also try to keep you warm this winter by raffling off a hand-knitted blanket. The Friday Knitting group from the Tisbury Senior Center made the blanket and donated it to the Cancer Support Group.

The fair offers many ways to have fun and help our Island community too.

In case of rain, the fair will be postponed to Monday, July 9.
