The work of Zimbabwean sculptors arrived on the Island this spring Joan Merry and Don Lyons picked it out, on location, in January. Now the works are on display at Forget Me Not Antiques in West Tisbury.
The show opened last Sunday, and visitors were treated to a glimpse and feel of carved stone transformed into birds, faces, and shapes. The pieces are something to see and touch for yourself, though.
Speaking about a sculpture of a hippopotamus, Ms. Merry says "One woman fell in love with the face and kept touching it. That's the kind of thing this stuff is. It can really turn you on."
The art will be up until it is sold, and the gallery is located at 496 State Road in West Tisbury.
