Putting out the fire for fun

On a hot, July 1st day the last thing you would want to put on is full firefighter gear, but that's just what Islanders did for the Dukes County Firefighters Muster. Men and women from Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and West Tisbury fire departments competed in the annual muster with the Edgartown team coming in first.
The crowds cheered as the firefighters were put to the test in the Midnight Alarm, Fire Rescue, and the Bucket Brigade events. It was all fun and games last Sunday, but the skills used in competition could save a life and property in the event of a real fire. The muster is a chance for the community to see our fire crews in action and maybe get a little wet too as the teams sprayed water over the crowds.
