Bright blue skies, puffy white clouds and sailboats pushed along the water by the breeze to complete the scene was the view seen by the guests at the wedding of Olivia Law and Nicholas Butler on Saturday last. Livy, the daughter of Pat and Jack Law and Nick son of Lisa and Herb Tilton were united in marriage at the East Chop Light House by Livy's mother Pat Law before many family members and friends on this perfect summer afternoon. Congratulations to this young couple.

A really big correction to last week's column as the annual Portuguese Feast is not this Saturday but next weekend, July 21 and 22, so change your calendars, folks, and mark down these special dates.

Also just a reminder, the retirement picnic at Waban Park for retired Fire Chief Dennis Alley will be this Saturday, July 14, from 12 noon until 3 pm. It should prove to be most entertaining and scrumptious food is being provided by the Oak Bluffs Firemen's Civic Association and many Oak Bluffs restaurants.

Special Birthday Smiles go to Summer Ann Clements on July 17, Jeffrey Clements on July 18, and Charlene Alley on July 22.

Morgan (7) and Ben (3 1/2) Alwardt flew from Kennesaw, Georgia, on June 21 to visit their grandparents, Sandy and Wes Mott, and enjoyed a band concert, trips to the library and Vineyard Museum, late-night Disney movies, and swimming at South Beach and Bend-in-the-Road Beach (renamed "Ben-on-the-Road" by Ben). Eight days later they were joined by their parents, Sarah and Jason Alwardt (both Class of 1994, MVRHS), for more beach fun, the July Fourth parade, and a big celebration of Sandy's 60th at the Ocean View (and Sarah's 31st at home).

Woodside Bake and Yard Treasures Sales this Saturday, July 14, from 9 am to 2 pm at the last building across from the High School.

Bobbi-Ann Gibson has had the pleasure of an extended visit from her daughter Pam Hendrix and granddaughter Shaina who arrived from Holladay, Tenn., on June 16. On July 19, granddaughter Daniella Gibson, the daughter of Michael Gibson, will come to spend some time with her. July 20 will be the arrival date for grandson Jim Gibson and his wife Irma Wandt. Jim is the son of John and Karen Gibson. The young couple were married in South Africa, which is Irma's home, and now are looking forward to spending time with Bobbi-Ann.

For good, summertime fun, check out the many programs offered by the Oak Bluffs Library. Friday, July 13, storyteller Sheila Mudd Baker visits Story Time with grandparents. Bring your grandchildren while the parents go out to lunch, On Tuesday, July 17, family games night starts at 6 pm - play board games with your friends. On Wednesday, July 18, pre-school Story Time at 10:30 am will be a rollicking sing-along. Enjoy your week and send your news along to me, please.

Peace.
