The Yard in Chilmark presents its 2007 Company Residency performances tonight through Saturday. The residency brings together two choreographers, Johannes Wieland and Chris Elam, who will present their new work.

Mr. Wieland, a native of Germany, was the principal dancer with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and Berlin's State Opera before establishing his own company in 2002. He was recently appointed artistic director and choreographer of the State Theatre of Kassel in Germany.

Chris Elam/Misnomer Dance Theater has performed throughout the United States, in Cuba, Brazil, Indonesia, and Turkey. Mr. Elam's work is influenced by his study of traditional dances.

The choreographic residencies at The Yard support the creation of new work in dance by providing artists with housing, a space in which to create, as well as technical and administrative support. The audience benefits by seeing cutting edge work, fresh from the creative process, in the beautiful Chilmark setting.

Company Residency performances, Thurs., Fri., and Sat., July 26-28, 8 pm, the Yard, Middle Rd., Chilmark. Pre-concert talk, 7:30 pm. Tickets: $50 for premium seating, $25 for general admission, and $15 for seniors and under 30 years old. For more information, call 508-645-9662 or visit www.dancetheyard.org.
