A little of everything for big rewards

Posted July 26, 2007

The Island Affordable Housing Fund's big weekend is finally upon us, with everything from a kick-off-your-shoes telethon to a dress-to-the-nines premiere party. Thanks to generous sponsors, every dollar raised will go to the housing fund.

The four-day event begins tonight with a film about the housing crisis by Film-Truth Productions. "A Home for Us All" will be shown at 7 pm, at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury. A discussion will follow the screening.

Next, tune in to Plum TV for a special telethon. More than 20 hours of live TV filled with guests and programs. The Island Cup Baseball Tournament on Saturday and Sunday will take place at the regional high school, with proceeds shared with the baseball field building project.

The Premiere Party on Saturday, July 28, will take place at the Daniel Fisher House in Edgartown from 6:30 to 10 pm. With valet parking and food by V. Jamie Hamlin and Sons, you will be treated to the best. Musical guests include Beetlebung Steel Band, Jerry Bennett and the Sultans of Swing, the Vineyard Sound, and Jim Belushi.
