The Vineyard Nursing Association hosted their annual clambake and auction at the Field Gallery in West Tisbury on July 25. The home health-care agency provides professional medical services and the evening raised money to help bridge the gap between the cost of services and insurance reimbursement.

Auctioneer Ken Goldberg said, "It's a great organization that helps local people." About his second year as auctioneer, Mr. Goldberg said, "As always, I'm looking for my big break."

The Dukes County Jazz Band and the Vineyard Sound filled the gallery lawn with sweet sounds. The crowd circled the silent auction tables trying to out-bid each other. The live auction was a spirited affair kept upbeat by Mr. Goldberg and Lenny Clarke.

The evening was a success and will go a long way to help the association on their more than 14,000 patient visits each year. The next benefit for Vineyard Nursing Association is the golf classic on Monday, Oct. 8, at the Vineyard Golf Club.
