Derreck M. Coleman
Derreck M. Coleman was born in Stoughton, in November 23, 1982, and died on August 28, in Vineyard Haven.
In October of 1995, Derreck and his family moved to Martha's Vineyard. He went to Oak Bluffs School and West Tisbury School, and graduated from Martha's Vineyard Regional High School in 2002. From his high school years through his adulthood, he was actively involved in many sports activities.
Derreck worked at A & P in Edgartown, and he also worked at Cumberland Farms and Jim's where everyone knew and loved him.
He was a very sociable individual. Many were drawn to his unique, sincere, and loving personality. He was a true and loyal friend. His love for people went even beyond close friends. He easily embraced strangers and those just passing by.
Derreck's walk through life stands as a true testimony to how a young person can overcome adversities in life and emerge into God's marvelous light. Derreck came to know the Lord through the Life Works program of the Apostolic House of Prayer, and was baptized in 2006. He often said this program saved his life, and that more people should come to realize the power pf prayer for those in trouble.
Derreck leaves behind his mom, Christine Coleman-Geddis; his step-father, Michael Geddis; sister Magen; brothers Josh and Jeffrey; nieces Zoe and Keilla; nephews Rieley and Sean, along with several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Derreck will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and whose lives were touched by him.
