At Featherstone Center for the Arts, "The Other Side of Vineyard Art: Not Beaches and Boats" art show had its reception last Sunday, showcasing the work of 25 artists, many of which had never been seen in public. In the Virginia Weston Besse Gallery, there is photography by Janice and Chris Baer, clay sculpture by Scott Campbell, jewelry by Christopher Rego, and many more works by Island artists.

According to a press release, the artists "practiced their skill based on what they felt was important, not what sold." Opening night was in fact a success; according to office manager Tom Dresser, approximately 60 to 75 people attended.

The show runs through Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the gallery located on Barnes Road in Oak Bluffs. For more information, call 508-693-1850 or visit
