Far and away the best

Barbara Ronchetti, owner of Island Alpaca in Oak Bluffs, took six of her 38 alpaca to the Big E fair and entered them into competition. Some 600 alpaca were entered from all over New England and also New York and represented the largest competition of its kind in fair history. Ms. Ronchetti's six alpaca took home five ribbons, including two blue ribbons, and also one championship award for a young female named Angelina. "We were thrilled to get five ribbons. It was very successful for our first show," said Ms. Ronchetti.

One of the most popular shows in New England, the Big E attracts thousands of visitors daily for the 17-day fair and exposition held each year in Springfield.
