When people see Oak Bluffs resident Margaret Oliveira and her new short hair cut, they are a bit shocked. Margaret has had long hair for most of her life. But when her sister, Lynn, of Swampscott, faced losing her own long hair due to cancer treatments, the two sisters jumped into action. Lynn told Margaret, "The reason I have long hair is because I've always loved your long hair." Margaret knew she couldn't let Lynn go through this alone, so at the end of September the two sisters went to TA Brown Studio II hair salon and got their long locks cut.

When people question Margaret about her new do, she tells them about Locks of Love, and about her sister. She also said how much Lynn appreciates hearing from old friends. Margaret said a note or card to Lynn would mean a lot right now (Lynn Larkin, 93 Essex Street, Swampscott, MA 01907). "We as a family are pulling together," said Margaret.
