The Nature Conservancy led a seed cleaning project last Thursday and again on Tuesday at the Hoft Farm Field Station. The object was to complete the final step of cleaning harvested seeds, by taking them out of their pods or scraping them off stems to ready them for propagation.

There will be one more seed cleaning opportunity this Friday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 3 pm. The Hoft Farm is located off Lambert's Cove Road in West Tisbury. While helping out the Island's Nature Conservancy, this is also a great opportunity to learn about native plants and preservation. Coffee, tea, and snacks are provided. To sign up, call Liz Loucks at 508-693-6287 ext. 15, or e-mail eloucks@tnc.org.
