All about Macs

Two computer classes for Macintosh users begin in January, one basic and one advanced. Nancy Dator will teach both five-week classes at the Tisbury School. The beginner course meets on Monday nights, beginning on Jan. 15. The advanced course meets Tuesday nights, starting Jan. 16. To register, visit For more information, call 508-693-2007.

Edgartown library temporary location

The Edgartown library has been moved to a temporary location until further notice. Currently, the library is in the Town Hall Selectmen's Meeting Room on Main Street. New hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday, 12 noon to 5 pm. Public computers are available; all activities such as story hours are temporarily suspended. Early childhood grants

Island early childhood education centers take notice: The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation is accepting inquiries for 2008 grants. The foundation works to improve the academic lives of children ages 3 to 5. For a copy of the grant guidelines, visit

Winter on the FARM

The FARM Institute's winter 2008 youth programs begin this year on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4 and 5. Beginning on Friday, Farmers-in-Training (F.I.T.), for ages 10 and up, begins after school. In this program, students mentor other students, assist teachers and farm hands, and work on their own projects.

Free yoga

MJ Bindu Delekta of SCY Yoga studio is offering two free yoga classes on Thursday, Jan. 3. From 9 to 10 am she will give a chair yoga introductory class. From 5:30 to 6:30 pm, she will give an introductory "yoga on the ball" class. For more information and to register, call 508-696-4513.
