Sun Sign Forecasts for 2008

2008 is a pivot year, a year of transition and change. It will be one of those years when you look back and talk about life before 2008 and after 2008. One of the reasons for this instability is that Pluto enters Capricorn in January, staying there for the first six months of the year. That time period is a foreshadowing of how your life will evolve over the next 16 years. Jupiter spends 2008 in Capricorn and Saturn is in Virgo, giving emphasis to the earth element. It will be a year of refinement and accomplishment. Think downsizing rather than expansion. Reality overrides your dreams in 2008.

Mercury will be in air signs during all three of his 2008 retrograde periods. He asks you to focus on your relationships and look for the meaning in them. He helps you to see the patterns you have established. Mercury will be in retrograde motion Jan. 28 through Feb. 19; May 26 through June 19; and, Sept. 24 through Oct. 15.

Aries:

The emphasis is on your career and how you choose to look to the public. This is the beginning of a long transformation of your public role. You can make it to the top if you decide to do so, but you have to start by learning to work with people in authority, being able to fit into new groups, and doing some tedious detailed work this year. Think of 2008 as a slow but necessary stepping-stone to your career goal.

Taurus:

2008 is a good year for you. You can get things done and cemented into place. You can acquire the possessions that are meaningful to you. You will find opportunities to make money. It is important for you to travel and you need to go outside of your comfort zone. Travel will help you open your mind and let in new ideas and beliefs while you buy beautiful objects.

Gemini:

You will feel some relief as Pluto moves out of opposition to your sign. The intensity of life softens. 2008 will be a serious year with many challenges and obstacles. Look at them as puzzles to solve. Saturn is testing you in the areas of sex, death, other people's money, and things you don't understand. He is asking you to spend time on something boring that must be taken care of. Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini from May 26 through June 19. These times will be difficult and it's best to prepare for them.

Cancer:

The focus for you is on partnership. You will begin to change how you relate and find a better balance of power. You have to learn how to recharge the major relationship in order to keep it dynamic. You can find out a hidden truth about a partner. You can get rid of the ghosts of past relationships. Exotic and exciting people will come into your life to open you in many ways. Get ready to meet the next big player in your life.

Leo:

Finally, after the difficulties of the past few years, you can have fun again. Saturn is gone from your sun sign and the dark days are over. You can put the new Saturn-refined you back together again. It's time to think about changing work, as you need to express yourself more creatively. Don't wait for a wake-up call but take care of your health right now. You need to find a regime of exercise and diet that works for you and stick to it. You will find your own power to heal as you change your habits.

Virgo:

Take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other and keep on going. Saturn is in your sign all year and he is putting you through a final exam and seeing how much you can take. He'll give you more work, and more people who need your care. He'll see if you can stop worrying. He'll give you lessons through kids. He wants to help you to get rid of your creative block. This is a hard year, and you must remember that it won't be like this forever.

Libra:

2008 is another year of challenges. You have to address issues concerning home and family. You must take action and stop sitting on the fence. It's important to state your desires while you act like the family mediator. You'll find it interesting when buried family secrets come to light. It's time to think about moving and where you want to live in the future. Mercury is retrograde in your sign from Sept. 24 to Oct. 15 and these will be difficult days.

Scorpio:

You can stretch and grow this year now that Saturn's challenges are over. Your money problems will get better and more stable. You'll get help staying rounded and organized. You need to open up and communicate and learn to listen. It's time to resolve old issues and resentments against siblings and/or neighbors by speaking to them and rehashing the truth of the matter. You will learn about the benefits of honesty and full disclosure.

Sagittarius:

The first six months of 2008 will feel so good with Pluto out of your sign. He does come back for the rest of the year to make sure he didn't miss anything. Look back to 1995 to see where Pluto has taken you. It's time for a change in your money scene, the actual amount you bring in as well as the attitudes and emotions you have about it. You can figure out how to make big money. You are freer than you've been in years. Take a trip to reward yourself.

Capricorn:

Think of a caterpillar building a chrysalis and coming out a butterfly. Think of a snake shedding his skin. Keep those images in mind for the next 16 years as Pluto puts you through your process of transformation. 2008 is when you put your baby toe in to test the waters of change, and the rest of the body will follow in time. You have to learn to trust and let go of control as you prepare for a new life. 2008 is also a year of opportunity and luck and blessings for you if you will work for them.

Aquarius:

Life still seems fuzzy to you. Neptune remains in Aquarius to bring you inspiration and spiritual epiphanies, but he also keeps you walking through your daily life as if in a fog. Chiron teaches you to access your healing energy. 2008 is a year to be reflective and receptive. It's not the time to make plans or set goals. Mercury will be retrograde in your sign from Jan. 28 to Feb. 19. You will experience two eclipses. Lie back this year and put your energy into your spiritual practice.

Pisces:

2008 will feel hard as Saturn stands in the sign opposite yours. You will be tested and old unresolved issues will come to the surface to be dealt with. Many lessons will come from working in service to your community. It's a year to get involved in projects that help others in society. People you meet while working for others will be instruments of change. Uranus remains in Pisces and keeps you on your toes. There's always that last-minute change of plans or opinion.
