Field hockey girls tie with Barnstable

 Thursday, the Vineyard girls varsity field hockey team played visiting Barnstable to a standstill, 1-1.

The Raiders scored first on a penalty kick by Meghan Talerman before the game was one minute old. The Islanders evened the count midway through the second half on a goal by Angela DeBettencourt, assisted by Alicia Oliveira.

Goalie Amanda Rose, with Niki Alexander, Niki and Meghan McHugh received special commendation. 

Field Hockey fortunes

With a 7 win, 6 loss, 5 tie record, the MVRHS field hockey team is seeded 15 in Division 2 and plays18-seeded Westport (7-7-4) here, Wednesday. The winning team must challenge second-seeded and undefeated Canton at Canton on Friday.
