Heat heat up, Bulls falter as RCBL nears playoffs
With one week left in the RCBL regular season, playoff seedings are still up in the air.
Playing Monday night at the Martha's Vineyard Boys and Girls Club gym the once perfect Bulls lost their fourth game in a row. The Heat, last year's champs, beat the Bulls and are looking the part again. The Lakers have come back from a poor start to win four of their last five games, including a win against the Suns Monday night.
A Bulls loss coupled with a Heat win next week would give the Heat the top seed in the playoffs.
The Heat and Bulls squared off Monday night in the opener and went score for score for all but the second period when the Heat rolled up a 27-19 advantage. The loss was the Bulls fourth straight defeat, by a count of 98-91.
Lucas Brewer (29 points), Matt Rivers (26), and Tim Scott (22) had the sure touch for the Heat, while Asil Cash (25 points), Brant Silvia (20), and Pat Rolston (13) led the Bulls.
In the nightcap, the Lakers rebounded from last week's embarrassing defeat to the Heat and downed the Suns 108-95.
The Lakers broke open a tight game with a strong third quarter and pulled away for the win.
Heath Estrella (28 points), Caleb Nicholson (23), and Jared Silvia (16) were the big three for the Lakers. Adam Rebello (34 points), Sterling Bishop (26), and Mike Baptiste (17) had the hot hands for the Suns.
RCBL Standings: Bulls 7-4, Heat 6-5, Lakers 5-6, Suns 4-7.
