Active & Quiet Spaces
With a large family, separation of space into active and quiet areas is important.
For this project, majestic old elms were retained to shade the front parking court and mark the front entry where guests are greeted. On an otherwise open lot, plantings were used to create separate “rooms” for swimming, bocce ball, grilling, and dining. Gardens selected for sun or shade as appropriate set the mood: a white garden by the pool for a moonlight swim or a colorful shade garden for guests to have morning coffee.
