This leatherback turtle carcass is about 6.5 long from head to tail. This turtle washed up on South Beach sometime last night or early this morning with the high tide and storm waves. Obviously, it has been dead for a while before washing ashore. The New England Aquarium and Mass Audubon have been contacted to inspect the carcass and to possible salvage the shell for educational purposes at Felix Neck Wildlife Refuge on MV.
