Students show at Featherstone
On Saturday "Paper and Pottery III," an exhibit of the work of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School students of Janice Frame and Scott Campbell, opened at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. Among the many people who came to support the artists at on opening reception were fellow students, parents, and former students of the two art teachers. The drawings were made in collaboration with Harvard University's Encyclopedia of Life. The exhibit runs through March 29.

Planting tradition
Celebrating their 40th year, Island Children's School preschool in West Tisbury built a vegetable garden last Saturday, with help from Island Grown Initiative's Noli Taylor. Under sunny skies, children, parents, and teachers made cold frames in which they will soon plant seeds.
According to school director Julie Immelt, the school will use the food to make snacks and build on a garden curriculum that incorporates the children's families, other schools, and Island Grown Initiative.
This Saturday, the school hosts an Open House for fall registration from 9 am to 12 noon. For more information, call 508-693-5815.

The goose is loose
Every Monday at 10:30 am, and Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 am, Mother Goose on the Loose Storytime entertains parents, friends, and tots three years old and under. Funded through a grant from the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services, the program at West Tisbury Library incorporates stories, songs, instruments, and interactive dramatics. Led by West Tisbury Children's Librarian Nelia Decker and Program Director Colleen Morris, the free program meets weekly on different days at different locations: The West Tisbury Library on State Road (the only drop-in program), the hospital's day care, and Family Network at the regional high school, for which participants preregister. There are plans to offer Mother Goose on the Loose Storytime to other Island libraries, and to make a DVD of the activity. For more information, call 508-693-3366.
