Achievements

Mike McCourt, general manager of Murdick's Fudge, was honored for the business's continued support of Daybreak Clubhouse of Martha's Vineyard by the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition and the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Tova Katzman of Vineyard Haven recently won the American Visions Award for her photograph "With the Sheep." She will be presented with the award in June at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The Edgartown Public Library recently won five awards for general excellence, including a special statewide honor at the 2009 Massachusetts Library Association's Public Relations Awards. The library received first place for its logo and its public program "Edgartown 101," honorable mentions for its newsletter and website, and a statewide honor, PR for Pennies Award.

The Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Drama Department has been chosen as one of the 2010 American High School Theatre Festival troupes to attend the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, in August 2010. The department was nominated by Robert Colby of Emerson College.

Charles T. Huff

Jean-Marie and Chris Huff of West Tisbury announce the birth of their son, Charles Thomas Huff, on December 17, 2008 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Charles weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces.

Hector H. Pinto

Maria de freitas Gomes of Oak Bluffs announces the birth of her son, Hector Henrique de freitas Pinto, on May 5 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Hector weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

Aleeya M. Holley

Kyra Jenkins and Rico Holley of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of their daughter, Aleeya Marie Holley, on May 5 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Aleeya weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.

Kimberly S. Peres

Geane and Darci Peres of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of their daughter, Kimberly Siqueira Peres, on May 5 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Kimberly weighed 10 pounds, 4 ounces.

Alexandre P. Guerrero

Cassia Paim and Carlos Guerrero of Edgartown announce the birth of their son, Alexandre P. Guerrero, on May 12 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Alexandre weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces.
