Shop Talk : The dish on denim

There is nothing like putting on a nice pair of jeans. Honestly, I am sure each of us can reach into our closets and pull out that one pair of jeans that we can throw on when in a rush and run out the door assured we look fabulous.
Purchasing denim is by no means a quick process. With all that's being offered, finding the right pair is almost an art form. Whether you're short, tall, big, or small, there is a perfect pair of jeans for you, it's just a matter of finding it.
With their wide variety of styles, colors, designers, and sizes, stores like The Green Room and Midnight Farm in Vineyard Haven, and Molly B in Edgartown have more than earned their reputations as being a few of the best places to go when you're in the market for a new pair of designer jeans. Though these locations carry brands like 7 for all Mankind and Citizens of Humanity, they are unique in some of the other brands they offer.
The Green Room also offers Hudson, Joe's Jeans, Habitual, and Paige, to name a few. Unlike some small-town stores that carry various brands but just one or two styles of each, The Green Room offers a wide range of colors and styles. Don't hesitate to ask for assistance from the friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's better than buying a pair that will begin to collect dust in your closet before even making its debut.
Sorry guys, but your choices are limited. The Green Room carries only Citizens for men, which hopefully will change, as I'm sure they too appreciate a quality pair of jeans. Reopening soon, The Great Put On in Edgartown carries a decent selection of men's designer denim.
Nell (not yet open for the season), Chica and Molly B are utopias for women's denim in Edgartown. You are immediately faced with racks or shelves of jeans. Whether it's the latest skinny jean or that sexy white pair, they have it all. They may not offer the number of different designers available at The Green Room, but they make up for it in their variety of styles.
Denim is ever changing as designers are constantly racking their brains to accommodate the changing lifestyles of consumers. Hudson actually just came out with the flip-flop cut that was designed for those of us who live in flip-flops come the first sign of spring. There is nothing worse than ruining a pair of expensive jeans as a result of them being too long and dragging when worn with flip flop's. Annoying!
Well that's all for this week. To all you denim divas out there, remember to shop around, don't ever settle, and happy hunting!
