Sampson W. Mallory

Marcie Mueller and Jason Mallory of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of their son, Sampson Witte Mallory, on July 10, 2008 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Sampson weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

Leela Khelalfa

Jenik Munafo and Hocine Khelalfa of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of their daughter, Leela Khelalfa, on May 12 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Leela weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and joins sister Malika.

Russell W. Coogan

Kristen and Will Coogan of Edgartown announce the birth of their son, Russell William Coogan, on May 14 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Russell weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and joins sister Aedan.

Laina E. Dubin

Alyssa and Eli Dubin of West Tisbury announce the birth of their daughter, Laina Elizabeth Dubin, on May 15 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Laina weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and joins brother Caleb.

Christopher F. da Silva

Geisimar Furtado and Gilson da Silva of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of their son, Christopher Furtado da Silva, on May 18 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Christopher weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces.

Achievements

Tom Dresser of Oak Bluffs received a Gloucester Historical Preservation Award for his recently revised book, "Dogtown: A Village Lost in Time."

Louisa Williams of West Tisbury was recently elected president of the New England chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Williams also received recognition as an advanced practitioner in the Association for Conflict Resolution's family section.

Stephen Nixon, principal of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, recently successfully defended his dissertation to achieve his doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Sarasota in Florida. Mr. Nixon wrote his dissertation on the effect of change actions on student achievement.
