Portraits of summer
The Summer Show at the Alison Shaw gallery opens Saturday, May 23, 4 to 7 pm in the Arts District on Dukes County Avenue in Oak Bluffs. Summer-themed photographs will fill the gallery to celebrate the season. "Reinventing each theme is not the easiest thing to do," admits gallery owner-photographer Alison Shaw. "I was in Boston, and that triggered me to shoot the Red Sox. I thought, what could be more summery than baseball?" For more information, call 508-696-7429 or refer to alisonshaw.com.

Significant time
Shaw Cramer Gallery on Main Street in Vineyard Haven presents Dawn Greeley Remembered, a collection of 24 specially priced landscapes, abstractions, and framed and unframed figurative pieces, honoring the artist who died of cancer last year. Gallery owner Nancy Shaw Cramer explains, "What was exciting about her last work was that she started doing abstracts and figures would emerge. She began blending compositions and techniques."
The show, which runs through May 25, coincides with the dedication of the Dawn Greeley Memorial Garden at Featherstone Center for the Arts.
