Feast your eyes
It will be high-style food and fashion on Wednesday, June 10, when Sweet Life Café in Oak Bluffs hosts a benefit for The Yard's Artists-in-the-Schools programs. The event combines a dinner of French-American cuisine with a fashion show, featuring The Yard dancers modeling the contemporary designs of Stina Sayre.
"I've supported The Yard with past events, and I like the idea of having them actively participate in this one," said Susan Guerin, co-owner of Sweet Life. "I think it will be wonderful to watch their dancers walking among the diners, gracefully modeling Stina's clothes."
Ms. Guerin is an active supporter of the Artists-in-the-Schools program, a group that brings dance educators into Vineyard schools.
Ms. Sayre, a Swedish-born designer, operates Stina Sayre on Beach Road Extension, in Vineyard Haven, where she creates one-of-a-kind pieces using fabrics of extraordinary quality.
"It's very inspiring to work with Susan. Our philosophies and goal are very similar, to offer the highest quality experience or product to our customers," said Ms. Sayre. "With The Sweet Life Café as the setting and dancers as my models, I can't envision a more wonderful opportunity to show my summer collection."
