Island businesswomen make plans to get a jump on summer
"Gearing up for the new season" is the theme for the Martha's Vineyard Women's Network's (MVWN) April 7 breakfast meeting, 7 to 9 am, in the Baylies Room at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown.
To set the stage, Nancy Gardella, executive director of the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce, will offer a historical look at the Vineyard summer population. She also will provide an overview on what to expect for the upcoming summer in terms of visitors and how they will be spending their dollars, based on Chamber research.
Barbara Welsh, a development advisor to non-profits and founder of Dollars & Sense, will give key pointers for nonprofit groups on how to spend advertising dollars wisely.
Nevette Previd of Previd Consulting, specializing in entertainment marketing, will discuss the basics of how to identify a target audience and give quick tips on successful advertising strategies.
In addition, representatives from Island media will offer participants information on advertising opportunities available through print, radio, and television. Nonprofit groups will provide information on sponsorship and promotional opportunities available through their seasonal show books and programs.
The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members with pre-registration by April 3, and $30 at the door. To register online, visit www.mvwomensnetwork.org.
MVWN provides continuing business education and networking opportunities for Island businesswomen for the purpose of promoting economic development on Martha's Vineyard in meetings held every six weeks, September through May.
