At the Field
An artists' reception at The Field Gallery in West Tisbury this Sunday, from 5 to 7 pm, will feature Janet Woodcock, Ben Johnson, and Ben Cabot.
Animal forms by Mr. Cabot, a self-taught stone carver, will be displayed in the field at the gallery.
Mr. Johnson's paintings focus on nature, especially birds.
Photographs from Ms. Woodcock's Nest Series and Vegetable Series will be on exhibit. The Nest Series features bees and other small creatures.

Focus on color

The work of Suzanne Crocker, Carrie Gustafson, and Deborah Bays will be on display at North Water Gallery beginning today, July 2. An opening reception kicks off the show from 5 to 7 pm tonight, and the show runs through July 15.
Ms. Crocker uses inventive colors and elusive light in her paintings of barns and houses.
Ms. Gustafson currently makes installations, many from shards of her patterned glass. She also shows new wall pieces and free-standing glass sculptures.
Ms. Bays, a costume designer for theater and television, shows pastels.

With the flow
Island artist Doug Kent hosts an opening reception at Doug Kent Paintings this Sunday, July 5, from 4 to 7 pm. A painter since 1967, Mr. Kent has recently has focused on whimsical nature scenes with flowing lines and shapes. Modern meets classical at Eisenhauer
Eisenhauer Gallery in Edgartown presents its second artists' reception of the summer on Thursday, July 2 from 6 to 8 pm. The show will feature the work of Fred Calleri, Karen Tusinski, and Michele Dangelo.
Mr. Calleri's paintings, light and humorous, depict girls in goggles and bathing caps, sailors and dogs in lounge chairs. "He is definitely the gallery's comic relief," gallery owner Elizabeth Eisenhauer said.

Ms. Tusinski creates floral still lifes that balance geometric form and organic elements. Her work was features in the 2009 Disney movie, "The Proposal." Mr. Dangelo plays with representational images of barns and boats, experimenting with color and texture.
"We are very excited about this collection because it reflects modern and classical styles executed in a fashion that blends together seamlessly," Ms. Eisenhauer said.
