Martha's Vineyard Glassworks hosted Davide Fuin of Murano, Italy, for a weekend of glassblowing demonstrations. Recognized for his original goblets and historical reproductions of bowls and plates has a longstanding relationship with M.V. Glassworks. His work is on exhibition there through August 21.
The next demonstration is on August 24 and features Peter Houk, director of the Glass Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For more information, visit mvglassworks.com or call 508-693-6026.

Allen Whiting's latest paintings will be the focus of an opening reception at the Davis House Gallery this evening, Thursday, August 6. Included among the new work is "The Honeymoon," an approximately two- by three-foot painting of a couple on South Beach, inspired by the memory of his grandparents who honeymooned there. Tonight's reception is from 6 to 9 pm at the gallery on State Road in West Tisbury. For the remainder of the summer, the gallery hours are: Thursdays from 1 to 9 pm; Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 pm to 6 pm. For more information, call 508-693-4691.
