Dragonfly presents "Con Brio"

Photo courtesy of Dragonfly GalleryThe Dragonfly Gallery presents "Con Brio" (a musical term meaning "with spirit"), an exhibit featuring a wide spectrum of work in different styles and techniques. Displaying their work are Dragonfly's co-owner Don McKillop, and artists Kyle Stevenson and Jance Lentz. Mr. McKillop's artwork has been shown at the Dragonfly Gallery for over 12 years, Mr. Stevenson's art for three seasons, and Ms. Lentz has returned for her second season.
The exhibit opened Tuesday, August 25, and will continue until Sunday, September 13. On Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30, the Dragonfly Gallery will host an Open House Weekend with refreshments, with a reception on Saturday, from 4 to 7 pm. On Sunday, at 4 pm, Ms. Lentz will hold an informal chat. For more information, call 508-693-8877.

The Field Gallery in West Tisbury center hosts a benefit event on Sunday, August 30, from 5 to 7 pm to benefit the Sheriff's Meadow Foundation.
The benefit art exhibit features paintings in all media, jewelry and sculpture and celebrates Sheriff's Meadow Foundation's 50th anniversary. Winners of the photo contest that was judged by Alison Shaw, Mark Alan Lovewell, and Alley Moore will be announced at the show.
Sheriff's Meadow Foundation was established in 1959 to conserve the rural natural character of the Island and protect its wildlife habitats. Since then, the Foundation has become the largest private landowner on Martha's Vineyard, owning sections of land in each of the six towns. The Foundation currently owns over 2,000 acres, is continuing to create new trails and opening new properties to the public, maintains miles of walking trails on 13 of the sanctuaries, and has over 2,700 active supporters.
Farewell Etherington
After 17 years on the Island, Mary Etherington of Etherington Fine Art is closing her Vineyard Haven gallery and reopening in Marfa, Texas. She celebrates her time on the Island with a Farewell Reception this Saturday, August 29, from 5 to 7 pm at her gallery, located at 71 Main Street, above the Green Room clothing store. The gallery will feature new works from Elizabeth Cecil, Julie Speed, Eleanor Hubbard, Gregory Watson, Clifford Smith, Peter Roux, John Gibson, Pipo Brockman, Carrie Mae Smith, and Lonnie Graham.
