Adams Scholarship Recipients Class of 2010
Forty-four seniors at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School qualified to receive the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, the state's largest merit-based scholarship program.

Lt. Col. Andre L. Mercier, USMC, has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal by Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates. The citation accompanying Lt. Colonel Mercier's medal notes his distinguished service as the leader of the Mission Systems Integrated Product Team from July 2006 to November 2009, on a multi-service project to build the Joint Strike Fighter for the Marines, Navy, and Air Force. He reports to a new duty station in China Lake, Calif., on December 1, to serve as the chief test pilot and then as commanding officer of the squadron.

Marisa C. Carson and Jason Bibens were married on June 6 at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. Marisa is the daughter of Kenneth and Alba Eber of Chilmark. Jason is the son of Robert and Grace Bibens of Manchester, Vt. The couple live in Manhattan.

Marlena R. Gale
Natasha Hartman and Jason Gale of West Tisbury announce the birth of their daughter, Marlena Rae Gale, on October 22 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Marlena weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces.
Owen W. Silva
Moria and Reid Silva of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of their son, Owen Whitman Silva, on October 25 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Owen weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce.
Reed G. Cabot
Nicole and Benjamin Cabot of West Tisbury announce the birth of their daughter, Reed Genevieve Cabot, on October 24 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Reed weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and joins sister Violet. Her grandparents are Linda and Gaston Vadasz of Budapest, Hungary, and Dan and Nancy Cabot of West Tisbury.

Viviane Gomes and Jair Davis of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of their son, Gabriell Dias Gomes, on October 20 at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Gabriell weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
