Good Taste : Gifts with flavor

Zales commercials don't apply to everybody: holiday gifts don't have to last forever. Many Island restaurants package their own goods, such as sauces or their house coffee beans, which make great gifts for out of town friends and family. Or, pick up a logo tee shirt or hat for another great gift idea.

Nicky's Italian Café sells their own dipping oils, which come in many flavors. Find them at the restaurant, located in Vineyard Haven, or this Saturday at the Winter Farmers Market at the Ag Hall, from 10 am to 2 pm.
At The Plane View, located in the M.V. airport, find white logo tee shirts ($20), grey logo sweatshirts ($25), and blue, beige, and green baseball hats ($20).
Was Menemsha Café your friend's new favorite place to eat this summer? If so, get them a Menemsha Café tee shirt ($18). Men's come in green and red; women's in blue and green.
State Road Restaurant has great hostess gifts and stocking stuffers. From their chocolate bars such as the Oak Bar: smooth dark chocolate topped with caramelized pistachios and a pinch of sea salt ($6.50), to a jar of Local Apple Butter ($7/8 oz.; $11/13 oz.), there is a lot to choose from. At Linda Jean's, buy a $50 gift certificate and receive a free $10 gift certificate for yourself. Also, find black short sleeve logo tees ($15), and pink or blue logo hats ($12).
One of the most popular sellers at Mocha Mott's is their travel mugs ($6), for which refills are just $1.25. They also sell tee shirts in several colors, in sizes small to extra-extra large. Short sleeved are $15; long sleeved are $20.
Find seasonal colored shirts at Slice of Life, such as green red, grey, and purple, and styles such as hoodies ($40), kid ($14) and adult ($18) tee shirts, and baby onsies ($14), or a travel coffee mug ($12).
