Good Taste : Sweets for your sweetie

There's a time for Tiffany's and five-course meals complete with chocolate fondue for two, but there's also a time for a simple sweet that says I love you, or even I like you.
A delectable selection of confections from the Scottish Bakehouse. Click on photo to enlarge.Espresso Love in Edgartown always makes Valentine's cupcakes: Pink, Cream-filled, or Red Velvet. You can buy them before the holiday, on Friday or Saturday. They're closed on Sunday.
Or, take a ride to Chilmark Chocolates and let your lover pick out a bag or a box. They're open from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm on Valentine's Day. You can also buy Chilmark Chocolates at Donaroma's Nursery in Edgartown.
The Scottish Bakehouse in Vineyard Haven makes a lot of V-day sweets, from frosted sugar cookies ($2) to a cake frosted with tiny hearts ($8/small; $35/large), chocolate-covered strawberries ($2) and heart-shaped cakes ($2.50/small; $9/large). The Black Dog Bakery and the Black Dog Café, both in Vineyard Haven and both open daily, offer a variety of pastry and desserts, ranging from $1.95 to $40.
Other Vineyard Haven venues for sweets are Sweet E's Cupcakes, which is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 to 5:30 pm, Rickard's Bakery, and Humphreys in West Tisbury, check out in Fella's Take Out.
