Shop Talk : Early spring cleaning

Spring is just around the corner, with 23 days of winter left. Now might be the perfect time to start your spring cleaning, so when the green sprouts you can get out and enjoy it guilt free. This could be the year to purge extra clothes, re-organize the pantry, or upgrade your cleaning products.
ACE Hardware at Hinckley's on Beach Road in Vineyard Haven can help you get started with their Clorox Green Works natural cleaner line, which includes cleaners for toilet bowls, dilutable all-purpose, and glass and surface ($3.39 each). To move the deep cleaning along, you will need lots of rags like Scott Rags (200 count: $11.19), and trash bags, such as the ACE 33-gallon large size roll of 40 ($7.99). They also have a large selection of brooms, mops and sponges, from traditional to the Swiffer Wet Jet ($24.47).
Shirley's on State Road can help with your organization needs. For the bathroom, the over the door towel rack ($22.99) and Bath Styles corner organizer shower stand ($21.99) will help eliminate clutter in the smallest room in your house. Clear stackable organizers, STACK BINZ!, are great for everything from your desk to your pantry and start at just $4.99 each. Another helpful tool that helps decrease clutter and safely store your special seasonal items is the stackable tote with lid. They have a large variety of sizes and styles, made by Rubbermaid and Sterilite ($9.99 and up).
A surprise place to help you with your cleaning is Vineyard Bottled Waters in the Airport Business Park. While they are well known for their water selection and Keurig coffee supplies, they are not currently as well known for their amazing Imus Greening the Cleaning product line. 100% of all profits go to the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer, a not-for-profit.

Households are not the only places spring cleaning happens. Current clearance sales are happening all over the Island. Two hot spots in Vineyard Haven are Midnight Farm and The Green Room, who are offering 20 to 70% off sales racks, along with 20% off snowboards and select outerwear at The Green Room. Laughing Bear in Oak Bluffs is also having a storewide clearance sale, with 20 to 60% off or you can purchase clothes two for one (higher price prevails).
