The Italian wine experience
Last weekend, Island caterer Jan Buhrman hosted Filippo Bartolotta of Italy for three nights of wine tasting and Italian dinners at Mediterranean, Saltwater, and Park Corner Bistro.
On Friday, Mr. Bartolotta entertained a crowd of about a dozen at Mediterranean with wine and an astonishing variety of antipasti.
On Saturday night at Saltwater, Island chefs Robert Lionette and Alex Nagi joined Ms. Buhrman in the kitchen for a pasta and cheese making demo, and a four-course dinner that included Allen Farm chicken liver mousse, ricotta cheese made with Mermaid Farm's milk, and a black pepper panna cotta with organic strawberry soup on almond shortbread for dessert.
On Sunday, the duo concluded the weekend with a five-course Italian dinner at Park Corner.
