Shop Talk : March madness

Spring is in the air. We have sunlight into the evening along with the bright promise of a great summer season. Shops are getting in the mood by clearing their shelves for new seasonal products. Many in fact, seem to have been touched with a bit of March Madness, as displayed by the wondrously large discounts found Island-wide.
Vineyard Hearth Patio & Spa, located in Vineyard Haven, is having their Sale of the Season on Vermont Castings cast iron stoves and fireplaces. You can save up to $300, but only until March 26. You may also qualify for up to a $1,500 tax credit on certain models that are 75 percent efficient biomass burning stoves. Call or stop in for more details.
Craftworks in Oak Bluffs, who offers contemporary American crafts, is currently having their March Madness sale. Their 30 to 50 percent off everything definitely deserves a visit, especially so close to spring. You might find a wonderfully crafted wind chime or garden decoration, along with great pieces of handcrafted jewelry. Sale ends at the end of the month, so don't delay.
In Edgartown, Soft as a Grape has its annual Spring Cleaning Sale all month. Everything is 50 percent off, so head down to Dock Street this weekend or next to stock up on some summer tee-shirts, sweatshirts, and maybe even gifts for upcoming celebrations. Just around the corner, Claire Murray continues to host their Annual March Madness Sale, which offers 50 percent off and more storewide.
