Obituary : Robert "Bob" Simkins

Robert "Bob" Simkins, 60, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 20, at his home in Brunswick, Ga.
Mr. Simkins was born July 10, 1948, in Bethesda, Md., to Samuel T. and Dorothy E. Simkins.
A former resident of Martha's Vineyard, he moved to Brunswick in 2004.
He was a graduate of Cape Cod Community College. He married JoAnn Wintz on Dec. 10, 1993, in Florida.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a door gunner on a helicopter. He was an accomplished businessman and craftsman as well as an exceptional pilot. He enjoyed skydiving and spending time with his family. Mr. Simkins was a loving husband, devoted father and brother.
His family wrote: "Bob's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family. He lived his life with integrity and bravery."
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Simkins of Brunswick; three sons, Brent Simkins of Brunswick, Ga., Robert Simkins II of Melbourne, Fla., Charles Stutler of Oak Bluffs; daughter Laura Stutler of Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, Ronald Simkins of Brunswick, Ga., and William Simkins of Falmouth; and two sisters, Linda Littrell of Panama City, Fla. and Melissa Rutledge of Falmouth.
The memorial service will be held at the Simkins' residence, located at 319 Oak Grove Island Drive in Brunswick, Ga., on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 1 pm.
