Obituary : Robert F. Quinn
Robert Francis Quinn of Exeter, N.H., and Punta Gorda, Fla., died on Monday, Sept. 22.
Bob was born to Margaret Mary and Edward Quinn on December 4, 1935 in Lawrence. Bob attended Lawrence Catholic High School, followed by service in the US Army, including intelligence work in Okinawa, Japan. An avid track and field athlete, Bob ran track on both the school and Army teams.
Bob received his degree from Babson College in Wellesley. Bob worked for many years as the town tax assessor for Seabrook, N.H., as well as working for the State of New Hampshire and in the town office of Oak Bluffs on the Island where he met his wife Betty. He was a devoted public servant and was well liked and regarded for his easy manner and sunny disposition,
Following his career, Bob enjoyed his retirement years immensely, living seasonally between New England and Florida. He enjoyed his family and friends, playing golf, and playing banjo with his "gang" as we called them. He was always quick with a smile and brought great joy to those around him. True to his Celtic heritage he was blessed with a wonderful twinkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Betty (Robinson); his loving children Jeffrey, Christopher, Pamela, and Lesley; his grandchildren Robert, Gregory, and Jennifer; his great-grandchild James; his brother Frank and his family; and Betty's children, Jeanne and her husband Herman, Paula, Kitty, and Raymond; nine step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will take place at St. Michael's Church in Exeter, New Hampshire, on Friday, Oct. 3 at 11 am.
Additionally, a service will be held on Martha's Vineyard on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 pm at his final resting place, Oak Grove Cemetery, located on State Road in Vineyard Haven.
