Obituary : Theresa Cortese

On September 27, Theresa Cortese (nee Radano) died at age 84. Of Haddon Heights, N.J., she was the beloved wife of the late Edward F., loving mother of Dr. Bernard (Buzz) and his wife, Barbara of Haddon Heights, Joseph E. and his wife Terri of Millville, N.J., and Jude C. Boass and her husband Erik of Martha's Vineyard. She was also survived by five grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Frank, Tanya and Tammy; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Constance Giordano, of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Rosemarie Rosolia (Frank), of Pennsauken N.J.

Mrs. Cortese was born in Camden, N.J. and lived in Indiana for 23 years. She became a regular visitor to the Vineyard ever since her daughter moved to Edgartown in 1983.

She was a 1941 graduate of Camden Catholic High School and in 1943 graduated from the Business School of Philadelphia. Mrs. Cortese worked as a secretary/office manager at the NY Ship Yard and Peoples Bank in South Jersey and the Speedway Police Department in Indiana. She had been a hospital volunteer at both the Westview Hospital in Indiana and Virtua Hospital in Voorhees. Additionally, she was a Secular member of the Franciscan Order and belonged to the Cherry Hill Maturity Club and the Garden Club of Mt. Laurel.

Family and friends were invited to Mrs. Cortese's viewing on Wednesday evening, at Evoy-Banasz Funeral Home, in Haddon Heights, N.J. Her funeral mass will follow Thursday morning at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, located on Kings Hwy. and Fourth Ave. in Haddon Heights. Interment will follow at Locustwood Cemetey, in Cherry Hill. Memorial donations in Mrs. Cortese's name may be sent to Camden Catholic High School, 300 Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
