Marjorie Wardell of Carabelle, Fla., formerly of Oak Bluffs, died on September 17 at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla. She was 70 years old and died with her children at her side.

Known to everyone as Margie, she was born in Medford in June of 1938, the daughter of Scottish immigrants, and grew up in Malden, where she attended high school. As a young woman she also attended the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, and showed an artistic flair all of her life. She moved to the Vineyard in the 1960s and was a resident of Oak Bluffs for nearly 20 years, where she brought up her three sons before moving to Florida several years ago.

Margie spent most of her work life as a home health aide, and took great joy in being able to care for elderly people every day. She was also very devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by them. She is survived by her three sons, Charles of Vineyard Haven, Joseph of Oak Bluffs, and Andrew of Worcester, as well as four grandchildren: Jasmine, Jared, Evan, and LauraLyn. A private memorial service was held with her children, grandchildren, and other family members. A celebration of her life and a gathering of old friends will be held at the VFW hall in Oak Bluffs at 1 pm on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 1 to 4 pm.
