Obituary : John L. Jasinski Sr.
John L. Jasinski, Sr., of Martha's Vineyard and Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., husband of the late Ellen (Sousa) Jasinski, died in Ponte Vedra Beach on January 25. He was born in Hartford on December 13, 1920, son of the late Ignaz and Mary (Woytka) Jasinski. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and worked as a postal carrier for the Danbury Post Office for many years. Upon his retirement, he moved to Florida. For the past several years he had also been a part-time resident of Massachusetts, residing with his daughter and son-in-law, Maryellen (Talon) and Stephen Nixon.
Mr. Jasinski was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving with the United States Navy. He was a recipient of several decorations.
He will be sadly missed by his son, John L. Jasinski, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; his daughter, Maryellen (Talon) Nixon and her husband, Stephen, of Martha's Vineyard; his two grandchildren, Ciara Jasinski and Aaron Jones and his wife, Laura; and his great-grandson, Ayden Jones. He will also be missed by all who knew him and who lovingly referred to him as "Pop."
He will be buried in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury, Conn., on Friday, Feb. 6 with a graveside service.
Pop will always be remembered as the smiling, shy man who loved to build things with his hands and sit on the porch watching the birds in the backyard.
