The Rev. Robert J. Immelt, 87, of Edgartown, died at his home on Friday evening, Jan. 30, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Frye) Immelt; his son, Jay Immelt, and daughter, Julie Wheeler; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Mark Immelt, in 2007.

A memorial service was held in the Trinity United Methodist Church in the Campgrounds of Oak Bluffs on Wednesday, Feb. 4, officiated by the Rev. Richard Rego and the Rev. Susan Heafield.

His burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Martha's Vineyard will be private in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Bluffs.
