Obituary : Ronald "Ron" Ames
Ronald "Ron" Ames of Mashpee lost his battle with lung cancer and died peacefully in his home on Sunday evening, Feb. 22.
A long-time resident of Falmouth, Ron is survived by his beloved companion Jeanne Concannon of Mashpee; daughters Pamela Ames of Falmouth and Elizabeth Rioux of Plymouth; and siblings Richard Ames of Saint Augustine, Fla.; Charlotte McLoughlin of Woonsocket, R.I.; and Steven Smalley of Bridgewater.
Ron was a master stonemason on Martha's Vineyard for three decades, a talented artist, architect, builder, wood carver, and musician and will be remembered especially for his exceptional banjo playing. Ron served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Freemason and an active member of Falmouth's Marine Lodge and was a proud descendent of five of the original voyagers of the Mayflower.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, located at 475 Main Street in Falmouth Center. A service in the funeral home will begin at 1 pm. Interment is private.
