Obituary : Helene Wareham
Helene Wareham, age 88, lifelong Harlem resident, educator, painter, bridge devotee, summer resident of Martha's Vineyard, proud graduate of Hunter College and Bank Street College of Education, died on April 4, six weeks to the day after the death of her beloved husband of 66 years, Dr. Alton Wareham.
Helene leaves two children, Lynn Howell and Roger Wareham; grandchildren Naima and Rahsaan Wareham, Kehinde and Taiwo Howell; great-grandsons Alex Maxey, Aki, Shelomo and Benyamin Howell; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. A viewing and funeral service was held on Saturday, April 11 at St. James Presbyterian Church in Harlem, N.Y.
