Obituary : John Wyman

John Wyman of Gainesville, Fla., and Martha's Vineyard, born August 2, 1935 to Abel John Mason and Lorraine Lynde Wyman in Burlington, Vt., died on June 3.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son John Jeffrey Wyman and is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jacqueline Oma Wyman; two children, James Blake Wyman and his wife, Barbara, of King George, Va.; Virginia, and Janet Sue Sicoli of Basking Ridge, N.J.; daughter-in-law Karen Wyman of Whitehouse Station, N.Y.; brother Dr. Frederick N. Wyman and his family of Chestertown, Md.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Wyman graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, earned his master's degree from Xavier University, and his doctorate degree from Pace University. He was also a graduate of the MIT Sloan fellowship program. He was a pioneer in the telemarketing industry while working for and retiring from AT&T and author of several books on the subject. After retiring from AT&T, he returned to his alma mater as a professor in the business management department at the University of Florida and served as a business consultant to many firms in the Gainesville area.

His passion was his family and cheering for the Gators' athletic teams. A private ceremony will take place at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, N.J. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements were under the care of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street in Gainesville.
