Obituary : Alice Scott
Alice Scott, of Edgartown Road in West Tisbury, died at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital on May 31, surrounded by her family and friends.

Alice was born on May 25, 1928, the youngest child of George and Lillian (Alley) Magnuson. She was a native of West Tisbury who was graduated from the Tisbury High School in 1945.
Throughout her life she was proud of her Portuguese heritage. Her grandparents were Antone and Mary (Silvia) Alley who moved to this town in 1900 and began farming.
Alice worked as a waitress for several years on the Island and in Florida during winters. She was a member of the Boston Police Relief Association and was a caregiver to many elderly people on the Island.
She was married to Sam Burleston with whom she had a daughter, Nancy Burleston, and later married to Hank Scott. She also leaves a brother, George Magnuson Jr. and his wife, Priscilla, and their family of Edgartown; her grandchildren, Sam and Kelly Arruda, and many cousins and her faithful companion Trigger that she enjoyed walking every day.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 12 noon in the West Tisbury Cemetery, located on State Road in West Tisbury. A reception will follow at her daughter's home in West Tisbury.
