Obituary : Eloise K. Maddox
Eloise "Ellie" K. (nee Stephens) Maddox died Friday, June 19, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, N.J., following a long illness. She was 88.
Born in Blockton, Ala., she lived in Winston-Salem, N.C., for 13 years, then Redondo Beach, Calif., for five years before moving to Mountain Lakes, N.J., in 1965.
Ms. Maddox was the secretary/receptionist for Dr. Anthony J. Boni in Mountain Lakes for 37 years before retiring in 2007. She was also a licensed realtor with Mountain Lakes Realty for a number of years.
During World War II, she was a civilian employee with the U.S. Marine Corps.
She was active and held a number of offices with the Women's Club of Winston-Salem while living there. She was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of Peace Pipe Country Club in Denville and played in the Ladies Golf League at Picatinny Arsenel.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Herbert D. Maddox; a daughter, Sandra A. Maddox of Morrisonville, N.Y.; a son, David C. Maddox of Martha's Vineyard; three brothers, Oakus R. Stephens Jr. of Orlando, Fla., Robert O. Watson of Memphis, Tenn., and Ira G. Stephens of Dickson, Tenn.; two grandsons, James P. Dolan and Lawrence C. Dolan; and a great grandson, Gabriel Dolan.
Funeral services and burial were held Wednesday in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
